Phone Calls

I used to always answer the house phone and Bob never would because he claimed it was never for him.  And why would he want to anyway....he said there wasn't really anyone he wanted to talk to who would be calling on that phone....they would call on his cell.  Then he began working from home.  That changed everything.  He didn't want to use the minutes on our cell phones, so he used the house phone constantly.  When the phone would ring I never answered because it was never for me....it was always for him.  He would forget to tell me if someone happened to call for me, because he was too busy to take a message.  And....I wouldn't listen to the messages because they were always for Bob.  Occasionally I would take the plunge with a pad of paper and pencil and start jotting down all the messages that were piling up.  (Bob is notorious for "skipping" messages and they stay on F O R E V E R !!!!) Well.....we got new phones for Christmas and suddenly we were able to use our cell phones whenever we wanted.....unlimited everything!  Neither of us would answer the house phone...we had our cells!  Along came the National Geographic Doomsday Preppers show.  Now the house phone rings and Bob says, "You better answer it.  It's probably someone wanting to know about Pandemic Stuff." And that is thanks to National Geographic telling the world that I am Donna Nash who lives in Alpine, Utah.  Now, unless I make my number unlisted, anyone can find me and call.

Having said all that....(Whew!)......I have really enjoyed talking to the many people who have called, saying they saw the show, loved it, and can I help them....either with more information or getting a Pandemic Kit for their family.  It is fun telling them they can learn more on my website:  www.ARKready.com  I have to admit that helping people get better prepared really is where my heart is.  I LOVE talking to these individuals, learning their stories, listening to how they are trying to get better prepared, etc.  Since the show aired, many doors have opened.  There have been invitations to: appear on the Anderson Cooper show (there was a preliminary interview with the producer which went well, but Anderson decided to go with a show on the economy instead of pandemic - which makes sense), a phone interview with a reporter from the Huffington Post (I haven't seen it yet.....and hope he doesn't twist my words), several preparedness fairs here in Utah over the next several months, and to be a main speaker at a county-wide preparedness event in Tennessee.  Some I will do.  Some I won't.  But it has been fun to be asked!

I know some members of my family are embarrassed by all the attention......but I find it AMAZING how many people (normal people) watch Doomsday Preppers!  I had never even heard of it before the filming!  But, I feel that if it helps a few people get better prepared, then it was all worth it!  So....until somebody stops me on the street and asks if I'm that "Pandemic Lady"......I'll keep my head out of the clouds with my feet planted firmly on the ground here in Alpine.
